Bring the whole family to Big!World!Fun!, a performance of dance and music from the Philippines by company Kayamanan Ng Lahi, Aug. 14. Free for children and only $5 for adults, the outdoor event, at Ford Amphitheatre in Hollywood, CA, will include pre-show art activities and audience participation.
If you're spending September in San Francisco, catch the first of five nights of contemporary choreography presented by WestWave Dance. On Sept. 20, Amy Seiwert, Kat Worthington, Katie Faulkner, Stacey Printz, and Takehiro Ueyama will show their work, at the Cowell Theater. Tickets are $22 in advance, $18 for students.
Four young choreographers will premiere original pieces created for Northwest Dance Project, in the newly-opened Lincoln Performance Hall, Portland, OR. NEW NOW WOW!, featuring Loni Landon, André Mesquita, Ihsan Rustem, and Olivier Wevers, runs Sept. 30-Oct. 2. Student tickets are $25 with ID at the box office.
