Misty Copeland: Coming to a Town Near You?

American Ballet Theatre soloist Misty Copeland has long been one of our favorite people to watch onstage, thanks to her radiant presence and laser-sharp technique. But she's also made a name for herself as an eloquent spokesperson for black dancers in ballet, speaking regularly and candidly about the pervasive underrepresentation of African Americans—women, especially—in the ballet world.

Next Tuesday her eagerly-anticipated memoir, Life in Motion, hits bookstores. It paints a compelling picture of Copeland's experiences with discrimination, as well as her struggles with her body—you'll shiver at her descriptions of being told to "lengthen," i.e. lose weight—and the extraordinary events of her extraordinary life. (Yes, we get the scoop on her collaborations with Prince.)

Life in MotionHappily for Misty fans, Copeland will also be going on a book tour to celebrate the release, visiting seven locations in March and April and making an appearance on NPR March 7. Is she coming to your town? Here's the full list:
