All the Ballets You Can Watch At Your Local Movie Theater This Winter

October 19, 2017

Where can you watch Giselle, Romeo and Juliet, The Nutcracker, Coppélia and Le Corsaire all in one place? Hint: It also has extra-buttery popcorn.

Yep, it’s your local movie theater. Starting this weekend, theaters across the country will be showing Bolshoi Ballet productions of classical and contemporary story ballets.

On deck for this Sunday is Alexei Ratmansky’s reworking of Le Corsaire, or as we like it call it, our favorite “terrible” ballet.

In addition to the classics, the rest of the Bolshoi in cinema season holds everything from Jean-Christophe Maillot’s contemporary Taming of the Shrew to John Neumeier’s Lady of the Camellias to Ratmansky’s take on The Flames of Paris.
