DANCE POSITION: Carnegie Mellon University, School of Drama, a preeminent professional conservatory training program, seeks a full time teacher for the dance faculty at the level of Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) or Assistant Teaching Professor (Non-Tenure Track). PROFESSOR OF DANCE STUDIES, UC BERKELEY: The Department of Theater, Dance, and Performance Studies is conducting an open rank search for a tenure-track professor in dance studies to begin July 1, 2011. Candidates should have expertise in one or more of the following areas of dance studies: dance criticism, dance ethnography, history, transnational dance, or intermedia theory. Candidates will be expected to teach core courses in performance studies for both undergraduate and PhD students, serve as an arts administrator who can assume leadership of the dance program, and participate in other departmental service. Ability to do the following is preferred but not required: teach dance technique and/or choreography; choreograph or re-stage works for dance concerts; direct the department's annual dance concert. The successful candidate will provide a crucial link between the artistic aims of the current practice-based undergraduate dance program and the discourse of scholarship and research in the department and the university. In addition, we are very interested in candidates whose research, teaching, or service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and inclusion in higher education.
