Chugging water during rehearsal is a good start to keeping your body hydrated. But when you exercise, you sometimes lose water so quickly that your brain can’t respond in time—and you won’t feel thirsty until you’re already dehydrated. So just like the boy scouts, be prepared. An hour before class, drink an extra 20 ounces of water. It takes that much time for water to travel from your gut to your muscles.
