Comings & Goings

Cervilio Miguel Amador has been named artistic director of Cincinnati Ballet.

Garen Scribner has been named artistic director of the San Francisco Dance Film Festival.

Tobias Staab will be the next artistic director of the International DANCE Festival München, beginning with the next festival in May.

Birmingham Royal Ballet CEO Caroline Millerm, OBE, passed away in mid-December, shortly after it was announced that she would step down from the position with an official departure set for April. Deputy CEO Paul James has been named acting CEO.

Heather Robles has stepped down as executive director of The Bessie Awards.

At The Royal Ballet, Melissa Hamilton has been promoted to principal.

American Ballet Theatre principal Gillian Murphy will retire at the end of the 2024–25 season. Her final performance is slated for July 18.

Awards & Honors

Germaine Ingram is among the 2024 Philadelphia’s Cultural Treasures fellowship recipients. Fellowships include unrestricted grants of $75,000 to $120,000, as well as $15,000 in retirement savings.

In the New Year 2025 Honours List, Ronald Hynd and Marianela Nuñez were named Officers of the Order of the British Empire, Carol Patricia Straker and Kevin Edward Turner Members of the Order of the British Empire, and Joyce McNaughton Anderson a Medalist of the Order of the British Empire.

Vershawn Sanders-Ward was named the Chicago Tribune’s 2024 Chicagoan of the Year in dance.

Mira Nadon was named one of Forbes’ “30 Under 30.”

Misty Copeland will receive the Arison Award at the YoungArts Miami Gala on January 11.
