Goodbye, Nerves

May 20, 2009

Chowing down when you’re stressed out doesn’t have to be a bad thing. Some foods are actually good to eat when you’re feeling overwhelmed by a difficult routine or an upcoming performance. Keep a baggie of pistachios in your dance bag for immediate stress relief. Not only is it satisfying to crack open their shells, but this nut also prevents your heart from racing in stressful situations. Have three hours of class, two hours of rehearsal, and an audition all in one day?  Eat a hearty bowl of oatmeal for breakfast to fill you up and also to calm your nerves. The carbohydrates release serotonin, a brain-relaxing chemical, to help you get through the day.
