Snack with a Pop!

March 18, 2009

Next time you need a mid-afternoon pick-me-up, try adding some popcorn to the mix for an energy-boosting, healthy alternative to the same old snacks. While the butter-soaked movie variety might not be your best option, popcorn is high in fiber and whole-grain carbs to keep you satisfied and moving. And because it’s a whole grain, it’s actually better for you than the standby, “healthy” go-to snack, pretzels. To preserve the tasty goodness, without the excess fat of butter, pick up plain, unflavored popcorn at your local grocery store, along with your own popcorn seasoning. Many seasonings add only add 5 calories, so you can have your popcorn and eat it too!
