Why You'll Want to Watch the NBA All-Star Game

February 11, 2015

Despite yesterday’s bad news that MSG Entertainment is shutting down the Rockettes’ touring troupes, we’ve got one consolation prize: This Sunday, the Rockettes will debut Mia Michaels’ opening number for the New York Spring Spectacular during the NBA All-Star game. It will be our first glimpse of the much-hyped new show, which now features everyone from Jared Grimes and Derek Hough to the voice of Whoopi Goldberg. This opening number is very appropriately set to an orchestrated version of Taylor Swift’s “Welcome to New York,” performed by the Radio City Music Hall Orchestra.

The Rockettes will also dance in a New York-themed opening medley to the game alongside Christina Aguilera. The whole event airs live on TNT at 8 pm ET. It may be the first time I’ve ever wanted to watch a basketball game.
