A Greek (yogurt) Love Story

August 11, 2008

I have always had a thing for yogurt. As a kid I loved Yo-crunch or Yoplait vanilla yogurt. But when the war on high-fructose corn syrup and chemical additives began, I too started reading ingredient lists like warning labels. Not surprisingly, many of my favorite American brands were loaded with added sugars, both natural and artificial. So I switched to plain Greek-style yogurt––Fage or Chobani––and now I’m the unofficial fan-club president. They boast a thicker consistency, are high in protein and immune-boosting probiotics, and are a perfect energy breakfast when mixed with granola and fruit. Feeling daring? Substitute plain yogurt for sour cream with your next taco dinner. I promise you will not be let down!
