Amazing Chicago Sampler, Cheap Thrills for $22, $5 for Fresh Talent!

April 17, 2008

You may think you’ve seen it all, but you haven’t seen Ultima Vez. Belgian choreographer Wim Vandekeybus likes to push boundaries; his Spiegel, which will be performed at UCLA’s Royce Hall May 2-3, is totally explosive. And it’s a cheap thrill for $22, or $15 for UCLA students.

See major players on Chicago’s dance scene in Raw Bones and Other Stories. Curated by Dominican Arts Theatre faculty member Julie Petry, the program promises to be a powerful, emotionally charged ride. Same Planet Different World, The Jump Rhythm Jazz Project, Rasa Dance Theatre, and AMEBA Acrobatic & Aerial Dance are all scheduled to appear. April 25-26 in River Forest, Illinois’ Lund Auditorium. Tickets from $5 to $20.

Want to see the dance world’s stars of tomorrow? Check out Until Nostalgia Sets In, a program of five original dance works choreographed by students in The New School’s 2008 senior seminar in dance on the Tishman Auditorium stage. May 8-10; $5.
