Attention Chocoholics

February 19, 2009

So you inhaled that heart-shaped chocolate sampler from your sweetie this Valentine’s Day. The good news is that chocolate isn’t all bad––research suggests that a daily 8oz. cup of hot chocolate (or chocolate milk) is actually good for your heart! Whether steaming hot or refreshingly cold, milk with a little cocoa is as effective as high-cost nutrition drinks when it comes to replenishing and repairing muscles. Avoid the added fat and calories by making it with unsweetened, non-alkalized cocoa and skim milk. You don’t have to skip your favorite indulgence completely to stay healthy, though you could ask your sweetie for roses next year.
