The CityDance School & Conservatory

The CityDance School & Conservatory offers a well-rounded curriculum of Vaganova ballet training and contemporary dance techniques rounded out by jazz, hip-hop and world dance forms. All classes are starting online with a limited number of classes offering a hybrid online/in-person model. Classes begin Monday, September 21.

New students, ages 9 and up, can join the CityDance School & Conservatory by attending a placement audition online October 17 or November 21! Faculty will observe students during the audition to provide them with the best placement and to set them up for a successful year! Every student who auditions will receive an individual class placement for the 2020 - 2021 season.

CityDance Conservatory students are accepted into top summer dance programs such as Nederlands Dans Theater Summer Intensive, American Ballet Theatre, Batsheva's Summer Course, Bolshoi Ballet Academy, Ballet West, Jacobs Pillow, The Royal Ballet, as well as professional companies such as Rubberband Dance, Bruce Wood, San Francisco Ballet, Sibiu Ballet Theater in Romania and The Washington Ballet. Graduates have been accepted to leading dance college and university programs including: Alvin Ailey/Fordham, SUNY Purchase, Point Park University, Princeton University, Alonzo King/LINES Ballet BFA, Tisch School of the Arts at NYU, The University of the Arts, and The Juilliard School.

Friday Film Break: Sara Silkin's "LOST MIND" for L.A. Contemporary Dance

In a surrealist and deeply emotional film directed by Sara Silkin, the dancers of "LOST MIND," Hyosun Choi and JM Rodriguez of L.A. Contemporary Dance Company, grapple with the turmoil resulting from mental illness. Although Silkin's inspiration stemmed from her personal relationship with her father, her message has become increasingly relatable following a year defined by historical events and experiences that have impacted the mental health of many. The film's music is by Patrick Watson and narration by Lori Dorfman.
