Chompin' Around the Christmas Tree

December 19, 2007

Pie and chocolate and eggnog, oh my! During the holiday season, all I ever want to eat is sweets and dessert. Mmmmm, cinnamon rolls. But there’s a quick (yet temporary) fix: gum. Most sugar cravings typically last about 15 minutes. It’s been shown that chewing gum for at least that amount of time will help you get over the hump, since sugar free and regular varieties both suppress your desire for sweet treats. But don’t go overboard—for some people, chewing gum makes them hungrier. Try it out and see if this trick works for you.
