Dance Magazine Viewers' Choice October 2009

Congratulations to Allison Garcia, winner of the
Dance Magazine Viewer’s Choice Award for “Entrelazada.” In this innovative solo choreographed by Armando Gonzalez, Allison interlaces ballet and modern dance. The costume adds to this effect (she wears, harlequin style, half of a tutu and one pointe shoe opposite a plain leotard and a jazz sneaker), and the choreography is an intersting combination of challenging classical ballet with flexed and turned in contemporary stylings as well as emotive, non-classical port de bras.  Aside from her clean and articulate technique, we are impressed by Allison’s graceful blending of and transitions between different movement idioms.  Great job, Allison.
