Festival and Block Party, Dancing Through Time with Rogers and Rudner and Lula Washington's Master Class!

September 27, 2007

Enjoy a fabulous day out on the town at the East Village Arts Exposed Festival and Block Party.
The event features six stages of theater, dance, cabaret, music and film, with hands-on activities and local merchants and vendors. It’s Sat., Sept. 29 from 1–5PM at East 4th Street between Bowery and 2nd Ave. in NYC. Leave your wallets at home, because this one-day event is free! In addition to the six main stages, there will be discounted performances at participating theaters all weekend long. Click here for more information. Explore the concepts of dancing through time during a workshop and public discussion with pioneer postmodern dance artists Wendy Rogers and Sara Rudner. Rogers and Rudner will reflect on a variety of topics including what we are doing with dance now, dancing for a long time (5 hours or 5 decades) and our relationship and interest in dancing together. The event is on Sat., Sept. 29 with the workshop from 12–4PM in Room 207 at the University of the Arts’ Terra Building in Philadelphia, followed by the dance discussion at 5:30PM at the Philadelphia Center for Arts and Heritage on the 18th floor. This is a free event. Call 267-350-4970 for more information and to reserve your space for the event. Join award-winning dancer and choreographer Lula Washington for an African/modern dance master class. Washington is the cofounder and artistic director of the Lula Washington Dance Theater in Los Angeles, one of the most acclaimed dance companies and schools in California. This free class will be on Oct. 11 at 11:15AM at Santa Monica College’s Gym 102 on the main campus. A discussion will follow at 12:45PM.
