For Its 50th Anniversary, Scottish Ballet Will Dance At Your Birthday Party—Or Wherever You Want
Scottish Ballet is turning 50 next year, but they’ll be the one giving out the gifts.
In 2019, the company will make five wishes from fans come true, as a way of thanking them for their loyalty and support over the years. “It can be anything from the dancers performing at a birthday party or on the banks of Loch Ness, or even the chance to get on stage and be part of a Scottish Ballet show,” according to the company.
Fans can put in their requests using Make A Wish, where anyone can then vote on their favorites. Wishes with the most votes will be submitted to a celebrity jury—including Scottish comedians Susan Calman and Fred MacAulay, and Dame Darcey Bussell—who will choose the five winners.
The wishes are already rolling in—including lots of young dancers who want to perform onstage with the company, or have company members come visit their studios. Some fans are getting creative with their wishes—one would like to design the set for a Scottish Ballet production, and another wants to collaborate with dancers for a photo shoot.
The contest is open to anyone—as long as you can make your way over to Scotland to have your wish fulfilled. But we wouldn’t be surprised to see other companies copy this savvy marketing strategy—and generous way to reward fans.
