Want a taste of Ireland for not too much green? Check out Darrah Carr Dance, which brings ModERIN, its signature blend of traditional Irish step dance and contemporary choreography, to Manhattan this month. The troupe of champion Irish step dancers, currently celebrating its 10th anniversary season, will perform the high-energy show from October 23-26 at the Irish Arts Center. Tickets are just $25—or $15 for the Saturday morning “Family Show.” Click here for details.

Hey, West Coast students: Does your tight budget make it tough to support your ballet habit? Fear not. The San Francisco Ballet performs at the Orange County Performing Arts Center November 11-16—and there are student rush tickets available. Bring your student ID to the box office one hour before curtain to claim your discounted tickets, which range from $10-$20 (and must be paid for in cash). For details, click here.

Los Angeles’ Mandrake Bar hosts “No Dancing at the Mandrake”—essentially an open mic night for dance filmmakers—on Sunday, October 26. The free (yes, free!) informal screening of dance media features local artists presenting their work, or work-in-progress, to an audience of dance and film enthusiasts. Enjoy an evening of dance cinema—or, if you’re a filmmaker, take advantage of the opportunity to see your own work on the big screen.
