The Protein Equation

June 11, 2008

Whether you’re a vegetarian or a carnivore, it can sometimes be difficult to figure out how much protein you should be eating. Peggy Swistak, a nutritionist at PNB, says the grams of protein dancers need is equal to half their weight. (Ex: A 120-pound dancer should aim for 60 grams.) Split it up throughout the day to keep your hunger in check. Good sources include: chicken breast (21 grams in 2.5 oz), eggs (7 grams per egg), milk (10 grams in 8 oz), baked beans (12 grams per cup), and yogurt (12 grams in 8 oz).
