A Happy New Year, Indeed

December 29, 2013

Ring in the new year with some great ballet—and great style. The Vienna Philharmonic’s legendary annual New Year’s concert—broadcast in more than 90 countries—will offer a special treat during intermission: A performance by the Vienna State Ballet. What’s more, the dancers will be decked out in designs by queen of punk Vivienne Westwood, both while dancing on stage and in a film that was shot inside Vienna’s ultra-opulent Palais Liechtenstein. The costumes will spotlight some of the designer’s more romantic pieces, as well as a few of her punk-inspired classics. Take a peek at some of the looks at wwd.com.

None other than Julie Andrews serves as host for the festivities. See it all on PBS this Wednesday at 2:30 pm ET (check your local listings). Find out more at wienerphilharmoniker.at.
