Auditions Alert

February 25, 2013

Pink tights, black leotards, stabbing safety pins—it’s the homestretch of summer program audition season and you’re most likely getting tired of the drill. If you haven’t finalized your summer plans yet, print out another first arabesque photo and pack a smile in your dance bag. Here’s a small sampling of what’s going on this weekend across the nation:

New York City:

French Academie of Ballet
is holding auditions for its three-week summer intensive in August, directed by François Perron. (Click here to read about the program in Dance Magazine‘s 2013 Summer Study Guide.) It’s $40 in cash to register that day, but you can save $10 by pre-registering online. Details here.

Stay in NYC for the weekend, because on Sunday, March 3, The Joffrey Ballet School is auditioning in New York for its ballet and jazz summer programs. (Auditions are also being held this weekend in Holland, MI, San Diego, CA, and Columbus, OH.) If you’re auditioning for the ballet program, bring $40 and a 5×7 shot of your first arabesque. Jazz and contemporary students should bring a photo of you jumping, your face visible. Details here.
