Balanchine's Bugaku

Today’s archive photo is Allegra Kent and Edward Villella in Balanchine’s Bugaku, a ballet inspired by the traditional Japanese court dance of the same name. The ballet was first performed in 1963 and features costumes by Karinska and music by Toshiro Mayuzumi.
