Carla Körbes joins L.A. Dance Project

June 25, 2015

Just two weeks after her final performance with Pacific Northwest Ballet, Carla Körbes is making moves: She’s joined L.A. Dance Project as associate artistic director. Along with ballet masters Sébastien Marcovici and Charlie Hodges, she’ll be part of the LA-based team that Benjamin Millepied has assembled to look after the troupe while he’s busy in Paris. Although Körbes had mentioned she had other dance projects up her sleeve, including an appearance at the Vail International Dance Festival this summer, there was no indication that she was interested in artistic direction. According to The New York Times, her responsibilities will include casting, programming and overseeing rehearsals. Unfortunately, there are no plans for her to perform with the company at this time. But three cheers to Millepied for choosing a woman to lead his team. o
