CATS Is Coming Back!
One of the kookiest, yet most successful inventions of the ’80s is making a comeback: CATS will return to Broadway this summer, beginning previews at the Neil Simon Theater July 14 and officially opening on August 2.

(Cue the music for “Memory.”)
The original production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s feline frenzy based on T.S. Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats ran for 18 years, won seven Tony awards (including Best Musical) and was a pop culture sensation—as beloved in the mainstream as Hamilton is today.
Fittingly, Hamilton choreographer Andy Blankenbuehler has been tapped to create the choreography based on Gillian Lynne’s classic steps from 1982. But don’t worry, those unmistakable costumes, sets and characters will all return—original costume/scenic designer John Napier as well as original director Trevor Nunn have both signed on to work on the new production. CATS fans, get excited.
