Christopher Walken to Join NBC's "Peter Pan Live"

July 14, 2014

Last year, NBC aired its “Sound of Music Live” program, starring Carrie Underwood, to mixed reviews. Though the viewership numbers were incredible—18.5 million people tuned into the broadcast, with final rerun and DVR numbers totaling upwards of 22 million—critics and audiences were extremely displeased with Underwood’s less than satisfactory singing, dancing and acting. Even so, NBC promised plans for another musical in 2014, “Peter Pan Live.”

This weekend, the network announced that none other than Christopher Walken will play Captain Hook. (It did not say who will star as Wendy and Peter.) What trumps Walken playing a pirate? The role of Hook will include tap dancing. Walken, who got his start on Broadway, will dance his way into your TV sets on December 4. Until then, you can catch a few of his moves in his film Jersey Boys, in theaters now. Or pull a #takeitbacktuesday and relive the Fatboy Slim “Weapon of Choice” music video he sashayed his way through in 2003.
