People will go to great lengths to copy ballerina fashion, be it in towering heels to imitate being on pointe or slicked back buns worthy of class. One time, I saw a woman on the New York City subway wearing ballet slippers. I’m talking full sole, leather Capezios with the drawstrings tied into neat little bows outside of the shoes.

But soon, all the ballet fanatics—and us dancers—can wear real ballerina-made fashion on our feet. It was announced today that Cole Haan has teamed up with New York City Ballet’s Sara Mearns, Megan Fairchild and Gretchen Smith for a dance-inspired shoe line. The first will be a collection of ballet flats, of course! The shoes have whimsical touches like tutu-like tulle and ribbons, and come in a range of colors, from Black Swan Metallic to Sugar Plum. They will be available in stores and online on October 1.
