Dance Magazine Celebrates Women Doubletime

November 25, 2012

It may be a coincidence that the Dance Magazine Awardees this year are all women just when we’ve produced our first Women’s Issue. But it serves as an opportunity to celebrate women in dance doubletime.

The recipients of our Awards, to be presented next Monday, are all hugely revered in their own ways: Julie Kent, Renee Robinson, Dianne Walker, and Anna Kisselgoff. Read our feature in the December issue to learn more about why each one is an inspiring person in our field. (If you’re not a subscriber, it will be online as of December 1.) For me the Dance Magazine Awards are a highpoint of the year. The speeches tend to be illuminating and touching. If you haven’t reserved a seat and want to attend, click here.

And to revel in the bold contributions of nine additional amazing women, read our feature in the November issue, “Nine Who Dared.” (If you don’t have the print issue, it will be posted online on Dec. 1.) Not to mention our cover story on ballerina Tamara Rojo, who just became one of the handful of women directors of international ballet companies. (This is already online here.)
