Gallim's New Neighborhood

Some of you may remember Gallim Dance from our April 2011 cover story, or maybe you’ve seen artistic director Andrea Miller’s gutsy dancers in her Gaga-steeped works like Wonderland or Blush. Lately, the troupe has been busy settling into its new headquarters at the Church of St. Luke and St. Matthew in the picturesque neighborhood of Clinton Hill, Brooklyn, where it’s now hosting three weekly classes—company class for professional and pre-professional dancers, movement exploration for adult beginners, and yoga for all—as well as occasional workshops and intensives.

This Saturday, September 29, you can get acquainted with the new space and all that these dancers have to offer during their open house at the Clinton Hill Arts Block Party, from 12 p.m. onward. In addition to dance classes, there will be musical performances, artisan vendors, local food, art and architecture tours, and three dance concerts, including a “Gallim Dance and Friends” show at 6 p.m., with works by Miller, Jonah Bokaer, Liz Gerring, Ron K. Brown, and others. All activities are free and open to the public.
