Harkness Dance Festival Kicks Off Today

February 19, 2015

It’s cold in New York City—numbingly cold—so the list of things people are willing to get out and do is very small. But here’s one indoor activity that should be on your radar: The 92Y’s annual Harkness Dance Festival begins today. Over the next month, the Upper East Side dance presenter will hold performances curated by choreographer Doug Varone. Each program will use his Stripped/Dressed format, in which choreographers lead a rehearsal of sorts to give the audience a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the work. Then, the dancers throw on their costumes and present the piece in full performance mode. The best part? The tickets are just $25 and Buttenwieser Hall is so intimate that there isn’t a bad seat in the house.
