You've Got One More Week to Win a Chance to Perform at Jacob's Pillow This Summer

January 31, 2019

Summer might seem impossibly far away (especially with so much of the U.S. still in the throes of the latest polar vortex), but it’s almost too late to win a chance for your choreography to appear at Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival this August.

The submission period for the Pillow’s third-annual Chance to Dance contest closes next Friday, February 8. Choreographers can submit a video of their work, up to three minutes in length, to be considered. The public will have a chance to vote for the six semi-finalists selected by the Pillow via PillowTV (aka the Pillow’s YouTube channel) March 18–24.

This year there’s a twist: Instead of just the artists from the top-voted video making the trip to Becket, Massachusetts, this year, the top three finalists will appear at Jacob’s Pillow on August 17 to compete on the Inside/Out Stage. The performance will be livestreamed, and viewers at the Pillow and at home will make a final vote to determine the 2019 Chance to Dance winner. It’s not wholly clear whether the ultimate winner will get anything other than bragging rights—and since the top three get to go to the Pillow anyway, we’re thinking this is one case where it really is just an honor to be nominated.
