Justin Peck's Star In-Creasingly Rising

May 28, 2013

Justin Peck’s In Creases for New York City Ballet makes its highly anticipated NYC premiere tonight. The ballet, which bowed in Saratoga Springs last summer, was his first for the company—the fact that it’s his third debut in less than a year is a testament to his runaway success. (We pegged him as an emerging choreographer in our April 2011 issue.) Peck’s work is brimming with energy and ideas, and he’s made a point to give talented corps members like Sara Adams and Emilie Gerrity featured moments. (They are billed as leads in tonight’s cast along with Gretchen Smith, Christian Tworzyanski, and Daniel Applebaum, plus new soloists Brittany Pollack and Taylor Stanley, and principal Robert Fairchild. Even if the casting was done out of necessity, we love it!) If you don’t have your ticket for tonight’s sold-out show, the second NYCB Art Series evening where every ticket went for just $29, there are a few more chances to see what the fuss is all out.
