Petronio Opens at the Joyce Tonight

Tonight the Stephen Petronio Company starts its Joyce Theater season, closing May 5. On the bill is the world premiere of Like Lazarus Did, an evening-length work exploring the concept of resurrection. But his true subject is always movement: slithery, twisty, awkward-elegant sequences that are hard to follow and hard to dance. This premiere features an original score by Son Lux. Joining Son Lux to perform will be members of indie music sensation Bon Iver, yMusic and The Young People’s Chorus of New York City.

Petronio began his career as the first male dancer in the Trisha Brown Company. And he has been sculpting contemporary culture as a choreographer for decades.
