The Australian Ballet is almost here!
Lincoln Center is about to be invaded by Aussies—120 of them, in fact, will fly in to celebrate The Australian Ballet’s 50th anniversary here in New York. TAB will present two programs at the Koch Theater next week with live music by the New York City Ballet Orchestra. On the mixed program Infinity June 12–13, which features a suite of duets including Giselle‘s white act pas de deux and Don Q, we’re especially looking forward to Wayne McGregor’s Dyad 9209 and Warumuk—in the night, a collaboration with indigenous dance company Bangarra Dance Theatre. Then June 15–17, Graeme Murphy’s decidedly nontraditional Swan Lake—one of the company’s signature pieces—will run. The three leads at the matinee performances will be Amber Scott, Adam Bull, and Lana Jones, all of whom wowed us with their grace and athleticism (when, having barely stepped off the plane, they should’ve been jet-lagged as hell) at a studio rehearsal last year. —Kina Poon
