The fabulous Drew Jacoby is joining NDT

February 29, 2012

Drew Jacoby is taking her incredibly lush movement over to Amsterdam, where, as she announced on Jacoby and Pronk’s website, she’ll be joining Nederlands Dans Theater in August. While we are sad that Jacoby and Pronk (our August 2009 cover story) will be no longer (well, officially—there’s no reason to think they won’t dance together in the future), we’re excited that Jacoby has decided to put roots down with the electric company.

While Jacoby and Pronk were Holland-based, there’s another Jacoby-NDT connection: Paul Lightfoot, who is NDT’s longtime resident choreographer and now the director of the company (we asked him about his artistic vision in our March “Quick Q&A”). He reworked his Softly As I Leave You into a blistering duet for Jacoby and Pronk in 2009.

There are still a few more chances to catch Jacoby and Pronk, including the TITAS gala in Dallas this month. Jacoby will be performing with Michelle Wiles/Charles Askegard’s Ballet Next tonight, and her summer intensive, Blueprint, at Peridance in NYC runs August 20–September 1. —Kina Poon
