Former American Ballet Theatre dancer Nicola Curry has joined The Australian Ballet. â–  Richmond Ballet’s Phillip Skaggs will retire on April 19. â–  Bernice Coppieters, of Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo, retired in December.

Awards & Honors

The Joyce Theater Foundation has given its Rudolf Nureyev Prize for New Dance and $25,000 each to Ballet West and Lyon Opéra Ballet. â–  The Dizzy Feet Foundation has awarded Ballet Memphis $10,000 to support its community and school programs. â–  The 2015 Clive Barnes Award for dance has been given to New York City Ballet’s Russell Janzen. â–  London’s 2014 National Dance Award winners include: Mark Bruce Company’s Jonathan Goddard, as Dracula, and Wendy Houstoun, in Pact with Pointlessness (Outstanding Performance, Modern); The Royal Ballet’s Natalia Osipova, as Giselle, and Mariinsky Ballet’s Xander Parish, as Apollo (Outstanding Performance, Classical); Akram Khan’s Dust, for English National Ballet (Best Modern Choreography); Christopher Wheeldon’s The Winter’s Tale, for The Royal Ballet (Best Classical Choreography). Other winners include Francesca Hayward (Emerging Artist), Mark Bruce Company (Best Independent Company), English National Ballet (Outstanding Company), Goddard and Osipova (Best Dancer) and Carlos Acosta (Outstanding Achievement). â–  Former NYCB principal and current Aspen Institute Arts Program director Damian Woetzel will receive the 2015 Harvard Arts Medal on April 30.
