Walnut Hill and Ballet Austin Team Up

September 18, 2014

Walnut Hill School for the Arts is adding another partner to what seems to be a growing list—Ballet Austin. Michelle Martin, associate artistic director of Ballet Austin, will visit Walnut Hill in October to teach master classes, and the two organizations will work together to select a Walnut Hill senior for one of the 15 available spots in Ballet Austin’s Butler Fellowship Program, a year-long training program for high school graduates. The program is fully underwritten, thanks to an endowment through the Ballet Austin Foundation. Fellows are given a unique opportunity to train and perform with Ballet Austin—and 30% of Ballet Austin’s main company have come through the program.

This announcement comes just months after Walnut Hill announced its partnership with the Boston Conservatory, offering select Walnut Hill students the chance to earn their BFA in three years. Looks like Walnut Hill is on a mission to ensure the success of their students post-graduation.
