We'll Miss You Angel

Today is the day we’ve been dreading—Angel Corella will give his final performance as a principal with American Ballet Theatre at the Met tonight. The box office was slammed with last-minute ticket buyers this morning; There are no seats left exactly 5 seats left at the highest level of the house for his Swan Lake with Paloma Herrera as of this posting. His 17-year career at ABT has given thousands of audience members countless unforgettable moments, and this evening is sure to be a joyous celebration of what we love about him—his charismatic exuberance, his generosity of spirit, and his sincere passion for the art (which you can see in the YouTube clips below).

 

As he told the Associated Press, he had wanted to step out quietly, without fanfare, but director Kevin McKenzie insisted on a proper farewell. (Thank goodness for us!)

 

We wish him and Barcelona Ballet all the best.
