Gallim to Honor Dance Media CEO Frederic M. Seegal

January 22, 2019

Gallim
will honor Frederic M. Seegal and Limor Tomer at its February 12 Force of Nature gala. Both honorees have a close relationship with the Brooklyn-based contemporary dance troupe, so it’s fitting that they’ll be recognized at Gallim’s first-ever gala.

Seegal, Dance Media’s CEO, previously served as Gallim’s board chairman. He fondly recalls his first encounter with the company: After Gallim brought down the house at its 2010 Fall For Dance performance, Seegal was immediately convinced that he had to support the company and connected with artistic director Andrea Miller that night.

Tomer is the general manager of MetLiveArts. As part of that role, she invited Miller to become the 2017–18 artist in residence at the Metropolitan Museum of Arts. Miller’s appointment was a historic one, making her the first choreographer to hold the position.

In addition to honoring Seegal and Tomer, Gallim’s gala is the first night of the company’s self-produced run at The Joyce Theater, featuring the February 12 world premiere of Miller’s To Create a World, co-commissioned by Jody and John Arnhold. More information on the evening is available here.
