Minus 16 Comes to Atlanta Ballet

March 19, 2013

We’re wishing that we were down south for Atlanta Ballet’s company premiere of Ohad Naharin’s Minus 16 this weekend. AB has formed a partnership with the Israeli choreographer—Minus 16 is the first of three of his works to be performed over three seasons. Rachael Osbourne, one of the Batsheva Dance Company’s most mercurial and hypnotizing dancers (who graced our February 2012 cover), set the work on AB. In the video below, along with some Minus 16 rehearsal footage, Osbourne speaks (in her delightful Aussie accent) about how she came to work with Ohad and why his Gaga technique “produces highly sensitive, articulate, and eloquent dancers.”

Also, check out Alanta Ballet’s Facebook page for its video series “16 dancers. 16 seconds. Minus 16.” (It’s exactly what it sounds like.) And if you’re lucky enough to be in the area, get your tickets here.
