Tyne Plus Science Equals Unstoppable on DWTS

September 3, 2013

What do you get when you pair a dynamite dancer with a science-education hero? The mirror ball, baby! The Season 17 cast of Dancing With the Stars was announced earlier today on Good Morning America, and we at DM are pretty pumped. Our August 2012 cover gal Tyne Stecklein will partner the one and only Bill Nye the Science Guy. This will be Stecklein’s debut on DWTS as a full-time pro, and in case you needed a little push to watch yet another season, she is it. (Another plus? It was also announced that the show will be jammed into one night per week, not two.)

The 25-year-old bombshell comes to DWTS with quite a resumé. She’s performed in the films Burlesque, Rock of Ages, and High School Musical, and has worked with choreographers including Marguerite Derricks, Kenny Ortega, and Mia Michaels. She’s no stranger to concert dance either—she was a member of the Colorado-based contemporary ballet company Lemon Sponge Cake. Nye, on the other hand, may need some work in that dance studio. But with his brains and wit matched with her glam and gams, the duo will surely ignite the competition.

You can catch the season premiere on Monday, September 16. Can’t wait? Watch a behind-the-scenes video of DM‘s photo shoot with Stecklein here, on DanceMedia.com.
